A euphemism

Hi readers!
Hopefully, all of you have a pleasant day. Thanks for visiting my blog. Keep reading you all :)

euphemism is a polite expression used in place of words or phrases that otherwise might be considered harsh or unpleasant to hear.

Some people may live in a different culture. Malays culture can be said as a polite. Malays usually will use a proper words or ways to make it nicer. Euphemisms are used regularly, in every day language for example, passed away instead of died, use the rest room instead of go to the bathroom, sleep together instead of have sex.

For me, this kind of behavior have a advantage and disadvantage. This is because, to be polite or used a proper words might be difficult to others to understand what they are going to say. Others race maybe use direct words to explain something like " he is died". Passed away makes it sound like a less horrific things. The connotation of died is almost painful, while passed away it is remorseful, but not quite so hurtful

I was talked to one of my friend and he was a chinese. He said malays usually try to care others people heart and its make malays will not say something directly. It's will make others people will think what we are gonna to say. For example if we want said someone is overweight and we said to her that you are big boned. They maybe not understand what we are going to say. It is better if we said directly to them.

For me, euphemism have an advantage and disadvantage. We have to choose a better word to speak to others people. Make sure every single things that we said will not hurt others people and it must understand by people.
